The Swine Influenza A (H1NI) that has been infected humans in U.S and Mexico. It is a novel influenza A virus it has not previously identified in North America. This virus is resistant to the antiviral medications amantadine and rimantadine but it is sensitive to Osaltamivir and Zanamivir. Investigations in these cases suggest that in going human to human Swine influenza A (H1N1) Virus is occurring.
What are the Symptoms of Swine Flu?
Although uncomplicated influenza like illness i.e. fever, cough or sore throat. Has been reported in many cases, mild respiratory illness i.e. nasal congestion, and renorrhea. With out fever and occasional severe disease also as been reported. Other symptoms reported with swine influenza A virus infection include like vomiting, diarrhea, myalqia, headache, chills, fatique and dyspnia is rare, but it has been reported with swine influenza A virus infection.
INTERIM RECOMMENDATIONS
For a clinical care or collection of respiratory specimens from a symtomatic individual who is confirmed case or a suspected case of swine influenza A (H1NI) virus infection.
INFECTIOUS PERIOD
Persons with Swine influenza A (H1N1) virus infection should be considered potentially contagious for up to 7 days following illness onset. Persons who continue longer than 7 days following illness onset. Should be considering potentially contagious until symptoms have resolved. Children especially younger children might potentially be contagious for longer period. The duration of infectiousness might vary by swine influenza A (H1N1) virus strain.
RECOMMENTIONS FOR PUBLIC HEALTH PERSONNEL
For interviews of healthy individuals, including close contacts of cases of confirmed swine influenza virus infection, no personal protective equipment or antiviral chemoprophylaxis is needed.
INFECTION CONTROL
If the ill person move from one place to another place. Strictly they should wear the mask. To protect the decease ill person should be encouraged to wash hand frequently and follow respiratory. And also ill person maintain these while using cups and other utensils they should washed with soap and water before use by other person.
ANTIVIRAL TREATMENT
Empiric antiviral treatment is recommended for any ill person suspected to have swine influenza A (H1N1) virus infection. Antiviral treatment with either Zanamivir alone or with combination of osaltamivir and either amantadine or rimantadine should be initiated as soon as possible after the onset of symptoms. Recommended duration of treatment is five days. Recommendations for use of antiviral may change as data on antiviral susceptibilities become available.
PREGNANT WOMEN
Oseltamivir, Zanamivir, amantadine, and rimantadine, are all “Pregnancy Category C” medications, including that no clinical studies have been conducted to assess the safety of these medications for pregnant women. Only two cases amantadine use for severe influenza illness during the third trimester have been reported. However both amantadine and rimantadine have been demonstrated in animal’s studies to be teratogenic and embrotoxic when administrated at substantially high doses. Because of the unknown effects of influenza antiviral drugs on pregnant women and their fetuses, these four drugs should be used during pregnancy only if the potential benefit justifies the potential risk to the embryo or fetus. The manufacturers package inserts should be consulted. However, no adverse effects have been reported among women who received oseltamivir during pregnancy or among infants born to such women.

SWINE FLU
Swine flu otherwise called as H1N1 is a deadly viral disease which spreads through air which is most commonly found in pigs. It can be transmitted to the people who are working at livestock or at county fairs. Swine flu symptoms are just like other flu symptoms such as fever, body aches, fatigue and headache. In children, nausea and diarrhea are also common. As the swine flu is an airborne disease, avoid the infected persons from direct contact especially when they are coughing or sneezing. To avoid such a deadly diseases we must take some precautions like washing the hands often ,wearing N95 masks, I preferred N95 because these masks, filters up to 98% while the others will do only 68%, taking lemon juices is good to health and avoid Maoist places, where the virus can spread rapidly. It is important to remember, if your parents or relatives are affected by this they must be dehydrated or disoriented and give necessary medicines and importantly protect yourselves while taking care of them .If we are healthy then only we can take care of them.
During the mid-20th century, identification of influenza subtypes became possible, allowing accurate diagnosis of transmission to humans. Since then, only 50 such transmissions have been confirmed. These strains of swine flu rarely pass from human to human. Symptoms of zoonotic swine flu in humans are similar to those of influenza and of influenza-like illness in general, namely chills, fever, sore throat, muscle pains, severe headache, coughing, weakness and general discomfort.
Treatments for influenza
It includes a range of medications and therapies that are used in response to disease influenza. Treatments may either directly target the influenza virus itself; or instead they may just offer relief to symptoms of the disease, while the body's own immune system works to recover from infection. The two main classes of antiviral drugs used against influenza are neuraminidase inhibitors, such as zanamivir and oseltamivir, or inhibitors of the viral M2 protein, such as amantadine and rimantadine. These drugs can reduce the severity of symptoms if taken soon after infection and can also be taken to decrease the risk of infection. However, viral stains have emerged that show drug resistance to both classes of drug.
Symptomatic treatment
• Stay at home
• Get plenty of rest
• Drink a lot of liquids
• Do not smoke or drink alcohol
• Consider over-the-counter medications to relieve flu symptoms
• Consult a doctor early on for best possible treatment
• Remain alert for emergency warning signs

SWINE FLU
Swine flu – a viral disease caused by H1N1 virus is wide spread in India .Almost about five deaths have been reported in Bangalore. It has now spread to Bihar where a case in which a bihari IAS cadre officer has been affected has been reported but patna medical college hospital(PMCH) denies this. They are saying that they didn’t receive any such report from National Institute of Communicable Diseases(NICD) where samples collected from bihar are sent for testing .
Dr.Vijay kumar from PMCH microbiology department and also a nodal officer for sample collection is saying that 8 samples have been sent to NICD but they didn’t receive any report yet. Dr Arun K Jha State nodal officer and senior health also says that they have not received any positive results in the suspected cases across the bihar. He is saying that there are no such reports until Tuesday and any of such reports are communicated to PCMH , first since the test samples has been sent to NICD.
PMCH superintendent Dr O P Choudhary also said that so far they didn’t receive any positive reports regarding swine flu and also they are not aware of any such reports , until now. But the unknown health department official is saying that,PMCH officials and doctors on Monday had been telephonically informed from NICD about the positive case of an IAS cadre officer. And he said that he didn’t understand why officials are denying this.
The first swine flu case has been reported in Patna but the officials are denying it. The total death toll in India rises to 28 and the suspected cases are also increasing. In Mumbai the swine flu crosses the city limits and is spreading to neighboring citie and towns. Whereas in Puducherry the total number of cases are around 8.Bangalore is the second largest city where the no. of deaths due to swine flu is more after Pune where the death toll raises to 13.
56 cases have been reported so far in West Bengal. A source said that a niece of former Indian skipper Sourav Ganguly, 11-year-old Sneha, was stable and making satisfactory progress at the swine flu isolation ward of M.R.Bagur Hospital in Kolkata. There have been no deaths so far due to swine flu in West Bengal. Infected people are stable and doing well.2 cases have been reported in Orissa but no deaths has been reported so far.
The vaccine for swine flu has developed by a Chinese group at china’s Sinovac Biotech , it is very effective after just one shot ,says a source . Leading flu vaccine makers including Sanofi-Aventis , GlaxoSmithKline , Novartis , Baxter , CSL and Solvay are racing to develop a vaccine against swine flu. Sinovac is saying that there are no adverse reactions for this vaccines and one dose is enough to attain immunity. Regulators around the world will approve this vaccine only by the next month since it has to be tested widely and checkout its adverse effects on children and adults. It is predicted that swine flu may affect two billion people all over the world and on June 11 it has been declared as a pandemic.
But a source says that there is no need to be panic about swine flu since it is same as any other flu and a good treatment makes an easy recovery from this disease.

The study done by the California university found that there are viruses from H1-H12 and N1-N9,among these viruses H1N1 is a deadly virus which is most often found in pigs whereas H2N2 will found in human bodies and it suggests that, the most affected persons are the children below 9 years and adults above 45yars especially to the persons who are suffering from asthma(because swine flu is a viral disease which affects lungs and hence it is very difficult to breathe). There are several anti-viral medications like Tami flu are available for the infected persons .Now the scientists of USA are doing research to find a medicine which avoids the infection .As we know ,”Prevention is better than Cure” good hygiene is the most important part of the prevention .Take necessary precautions such as using alcohol based gel for washing hands, keep the surfaces clean and using tissues to cough or sneeze to avoid such a deadly disease.

Swine Flu
Swine flu is also called as H1N1 flu. This is a virus infection and it started from pigs.
It has the symptom of fever, cold, sore throat, severe headache .It had started to spread from western countries and had recently attacked India also. It had affected a lot of people in northern parts of India ie in Mumbai . As it spreads in air people try to protect themselves for this virus by avoiding to go to public places and also they need to keep their surrounding clean . They should also eat healthy food to keep there immunity high as it attacks the people with low immunity mainly babies. Hence the babies need to be taken much care so that this swine flu does not affect the kids.
Swine flu spreads through coughing and sneezing and do not spread through pork products. Prevention can also be done by washing hands with soaps especially after being out from public, disinfecting household surfaces with diluted chlorine bleach
If a person is been affected by swine flu , he can be treated with antiviral drugs which will make the illness milder and makes the patient feel better.
In India schools were shut down for a week as a precaution, and the malls , busy areas were closed for the fear of swine flu. Most people tried to cover their faces with the mask as it spreads through air. People started to stay at there home rather going outside. The government is also trying to prevent the swine flu by educating people through media.
Doctors are also trying to find the solution for this serious problem which had attacked in India recently. Swine flu doesnot spread through water contamination but it spreads in air contact so it is advisable to keep ur body clean and healthy. Kids should not be taken to any public places and kids with severe cough and cold had to be attented immediately.
The meat of the infected animal does not pose any harm until it is cooked properly. People who work in poultry are in increased risk of swine flu as they have direct contact with the animals there which are infected with this virus.
In India it has almost affected 100 people and hence it has become a very serious issue and doctors are trying there best to fight against the current problem. Hope the doctors find the best solution as soon as possible

Swine flu
The outbreak of swine flu has indirectly affected the overall living of the human beings. Read on to know about the symptoms, treatments and measures taken to prevent the transmission of swine flu.
Swine influenza (also called H1N1 flu, swine flu, hog flu, and pig flu) is an infection by any one of several types of swine influenza virus. Swine influenza virus (SIV) is any strain of the influenza family of viruses, that is endemic in pigs. As of 2009, the known SIV strains include influenza C and the subtypes of influenza A known as H1N1, H1N2, H3N1, H3N2, and H2N3.
Swine influenza virus is common throughout pig populations worldwide. Transmission of the virus from pigs to humans is not common and does not always lead to human influenza, often resulting only in the production of antibodies in the blood. If transmission does cause human influenza, it is called zoonotic swine flu. People with regular exposure to pigs are at increased risk of swine flu infection. The meat of an infected animal poses no risk of infection when properly cooked. Swine flu is a disorder caused due to the influenza swine which generally affects pigs. Such virus is known as swine influenza virus. Such flu can also be caused to the human beings due to the transmission of swine flu virus through pigs. Swine flu is also known as pig flu or hog flu. Though this disorder is caused through pigs, eating well cooked pork does not carry any risk of swine flu.
This disease is classified as infectious disease which can pass from one person to another person. The people who come in the contact with pigs are more like to get infected by this disorder. This disorder is likely to spread in short span of time from one person to another. Read on to know some facts about symptoms, treatments and prevention of swine flu.
Symptoms of flue: Headaches, Fever, Breathlessness, Aching body, Feeling of weakness, Throat pain, Coughs, General sickness and Vomiting.
Treatment for swine flue:
The swine flu in humans can be treated with the help of antiviral drugs. If such antiviral drugs are taken during the initial stage of the disorder, it can help to prevent further complications. However, proper medical treatment for getting relieved from the symptoms of the swine flu are also essential apart from taking antiviral drugs. Taking bed rest can prove beneficial to reduce stress and get relief from the symptoms of swine flu. Many experts recommend antiviral drugs like Relenza and Tami flu to treat swine flu. However, it is necessary to take doctors advice for treating swine flu to avoid complications.
Prevention from swine flue:
Swine flu can be prevented by taking proper cleanliness measures while dealing with pigs. Maintaining cleanliness in farms, using masks and gloves etc; can help to prevent transmission of swine flu virus through pigs. At the same time, it is also essential to vaccinate the pigs and take veterinarian's help to prevent swine flu in them. Preventing swine flu in pigs is a first step towards prevention of swine flu in humans. Further, maintaining proper cleanliness and approaching the physician after observing mild symptoms of swine flu can help to prevent swine flu.
The outbreak of swine flu is not only affecting the health of human beings but also their lifestyle. The recent outbreak of swine flu has affected the travel and tourisms of the countries in which swine flu is likely to spread. The reason behind this condition is that people are canceling their trips to such countries with the fear of getting affected by swine flu. Therefore, we can say that the swine flue has indirectly affected the overall living of the human being. Hence, it is necessary to have proper knowledge about such disorders to take preventive measures.

SWINE FLU
The 2009 flu pandemic is a global outbreak of a new strain of a influenza A virus subtype H1N1, officially named the "new H1N1", first identified in April 2009, and commonly called "Swine flu." It is thought to be a resentment of four known strains of influenza A virus: one endemic in humans, one endemic in birds, and two endemic in pigs (swine). Transmission of the new strain is human-to-human, with cooked pork products safe to eat as the virus cannot be transmitted by eating foods.
People who work with poultry and swine, especially people with intense exposures, are at increased risk of zootoxic infection with influenza virus endemic in these animals, and constitute a population of human hosts in which zoologies and resentment can co-occur.
Vaccination of these workers against influenza and surveillance for new influenza strains among this population may therefore be an important public health measure. Transmission of influenza from swine to humans who work with swine was documented in a small surveillance study performed in 2004 at the University of Iowa. This study among others forms the basis of a recommendation that people whose jobs involve handling poultry and swine be the focus of increased public health surveillance. Other professions at particular risk of infection are veterinarians and meat processing workers, although the risk of infection for both of these groups is lower than that of farm workers.
The symptoms include fever cough, sore throat, body aches, headache, chills and fatigue. The death occurs due to swine flu is due to failure of respiratory system, pneumonia, high fever and dehydration etc. Fatalities are more likely in child and young ones.
Diagram of Swine Flu Symptoms
Prevention of swine influenza has three components: prevention in swine, prevention of transmission to humans, and prevention of its spread among humans. Influenza spreads between humans through coughing or sneezing and people touching something with the virus on it and then touching their own nose or mouth. Swine flu cannot be spread by pork products, since the virus is not transmitted through food. The swine flu in humans is most contagious during the first five days of the illness although some people, most commonly children, can remain contagious for up to ten days. Diagnosis can be made by sending a specimen, collected during the first five days for analysis.
Recommendations to prevent spread of the virus among humans include using standard infection control against influenza. This includes frequent washing of hands with soap and water or with alcohol-based hand sanitizers, especially after being out in public. Chance of transmission is also reduced by disinfecting household surfaces, which can be done effectively with a diluted chlorine bleach solution.
Experts agree that hand-washing can help prevent viral infections, including ordinary influenza and the swine flu virus. Also avoiding touching eyes, nose and mouth with hands prevents flu. Influenza can spread in coughs or sneezes, but an increasing body of evidence shows small droplets containing the virus can linger on tabletops, telephones and other surfaces and be transferred via the fingers to the mouth, nose or eyes. Alcohol-based gel or foam hand sanitizers work well to destroy viruses and bacteria. Anyone with flu-like symptoms such as a sudden fever, cough or muscle aches should stay away from work or public transportation and should contact a doctor for advice.
Social distancing is another tactic. It means staying away from other people who might be infected and can include avoiding large gatherings, spreading out a little at work, or perhaps staying home and lying low if an infection is spreading in a community. Public health and other responsible authorities have action plans which may request or require social distancing actions depending on the severity of the outbreak.
Vaccines are available for different kinds of Swine Flu. Although the current trivalent influenza vaccine is unlikely to provide protection against the new 2009 H1N1 strain, vaccines against the new strain are being developed and could be ready as early as November 2009
Treatment: If a person becomes sick with swine flu, antiviral drugs can make the illness milder and make the patient feel better faster. They may also prevent serious flu complications. For treatment, antiviral drugs work best if started soon after getting sick (within 2 days of symptoms). Beside antiviral, supportive care at home or in hospital, focuses on controlling fevers, relieving pain and maintaining fluid balance, as well as identifying and treating any secondary infections or other medical problems. The U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention recommends the use of Relenza for the treatment and/or prevention of infection with swine influenza viruses; however, the majority of people infected with the virus make a full recovery without requiring medical attention or antiviral drugs. The virus isolates in the 2009 outbreak have been found resistant to amantadine and rimantadine.

SWINE FLU ( also called as H1N1, hog flu, pig flu)
History of swine flu
Earlier the flu was found only in pigs. In 1918 researchers predicted that swine flu relate to human. Swine flu is respiratory disease which is normally found in pigs. In 1918 the swine flu started to transfer from pigs to humans.
1st mojor death by swine flu was the US army recruiter hospitalized due to fever than the next day he died. Even his 4 co workers hospatilized later.
However spreading of virus from swine to humans were not normal. The persons who were working with pig and who are exposed to pigs were affected by this virus.
From 1918 to date, only 13 cases have been reported that the flu has been transferred from swine to humans.
What is swine flu?
It is a respiratory disease normally found in swine and pigs. Later when it is been transferred from swine to humans it is called zoonatic swine flu.
Symptoms of swine flu.
Fever, sore throat, throat pain, headache, body ache, vomiting, cough & discomfort.
How does swine flu spreads in humans?
Swine flu spreads in humans by sneezing, breathing. Even the virus spreads when an infected person touches any thing & by touching an uninfected person. This virus may be alive upto 8 hrs. swine flu does not spread through food.
Precautions taken to prevent swine flu.
Stay far from an infected person about 3 to 4 mts. Washing hands with the soap. Should not touch nose, mouth, eyes with dirty hands.
